What can I say about myself? I'm defined by lots of things... work, play, family... and then there are the passion projects. I have been in the media game for 15 years now including Senior positions at Jane Magazine, Details Magazine , and Paper Magazine -- holding various duties from Entertainment Editor to Events Director to Writer. I also launched the New Media division for Starworks, a Luxury Fashion company and global casting agency based out of Soho New York. Some of my early blogging can be found at the Starworks Blog.

In an effort to discover my roots, I returned to the motherland of Cuba, and made a documentary entitled East of Havana, on Cuba's hip hop culture. The New York Times called it "the real deal". I have an incredible family of Cuban and Basque blood, who owned a wonderful restaurant called Centro Vasco. Susan Orlean, a writer at The New Yorker, penned a 10 page feature about both businesses in Havana and Miami. If you care to read it, go to Homesick Havana, New Yorker website. You may have to pay a tiny subscription fee, but I'm really doing you a favor because the subscription offers access to the magazine's archives dating back to 1925.

Currently, I am Editor-in-Chief for The Standard Hotel website (to be launched August 2010). I also blog incessantly and love producing/directing web video for my clients while I continue writing for various publications. To view my work, go to my bibliography.

Let's see what else? I like to take photos. I have years worth of old polaroids that were published in various publications. I have been DJ'ing since 1995 and will never put my records in storage. I also keep a blog on Cuban affairs entitled Word on the Street. Recently, I have been invited to serve as an Ambassador for Oxfam, under their Sisters on the Planet constituency, which is a group of American women leaders raising awareness about women and climate change, and to help vulnerable communities adapt to crisis.
